President of the agency, Jay Geer manages the firm’s accounts, specializing in client programming and media relations. Jay is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America and is the recipient of several awards presented by the Publicity Club of Los Angeles. Jay was recently recognized as one of the top 50 healthcare public relations executives in the United States by PR Week Magazine. He holds a degree in Journalism form California State University, Dominguez Hills and is a frequent lecturer on the subject of public relations.
James has been with Miller Geer & Associates since joining the firm as an intern while earning his college degree in marketing. He immediately caught the PR bug and was hired full-time shortly after graduating. He was quickly promoted from Account Coordinator, to Senior Account Executive, to his current position as Vice President.
As a team leader and client manager, he is responsible for the development and execution of strategic public relations plans, issues and crisis management consulting, media relations – including pitching, and branding. He has a somewhat unhealthy obsession with earning media, a sharp eye for detail and a penchant for finding a news angle.
Possessing a strong passion for all things healthcare communications-related, James serves as a board member and digital communications co-chair for the Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing Association (HPRMA). He also volunteers with the American Red Cross Orange County Chapter as a rotating Public Information Officer.
He is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton where he earned his bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis in advertising and public relations. He enjoys spending time with his family, heading to the beach, doing P90X (as much of it as he can finish), watching the Clippers and Chargers, and dominating the basketball court when he’s able to hit the gym.
As an account manager, Sandy supports the agency with media relations, strategic campaign planning, social media and design. She is an award-winning media relations expert with extensive experience in the healthcare and non-profits industries. Positioning her clients as industry thought leaders, Sandy has a proven track record of elevating brand awareness for clients, providing effective strategic direction and earning top-tier news media placements.
Sandy has managed some of Southern California’s largest health care providers such as AltaMed Health Services, Torrance Memorial Medical Center, House Clinic, Alvarado Hospital, CareMore Medical Group, St. Vincent Medical Center and many more. She has led many successful public relations campaigns, taking her clients’ stories to the front pages of the LA Times, NY Times, Wall Street Journal, and Orange County Register, and regularly secures broadcast coverage on local network and national TV news.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis in public relations from California State University, Fullerton. Away from the office, Sandy practices photography and enjoys crafts, party planning, cooking, and traveling.
