Garden Grove Medical Center and an Accused physician
A physician, through calls and complaints to the hospital, was accused via media reports of improperly attending to his ob/gyn patients during labor and delivery. The stories, which broke in a major daily newspaper and the local Spanish speaking television stations (most of the patients were exclusively Spanish-speaking), generated a great deal of interest and the medical center’s reputation and the revenue generated from ob/gyn procedures would be severely diminished.
With an immediate call for a meeting with key administrative staff, we suggested that a toll-free number be established for those in the community who may have questions or additional complaints about this particular physician, and suspending privileges to the hospital for deliveries.
Within the next two weeks, the hotline received more calls on the publicized cases and additional cases.
